London is launching a dedicated Menswear Fashion Week…finally!!! – set to launch this June just before the traditional Paris and Milan Menswear shows. The event was unveiled in April by the British Fashion Council’s new chair of the Fashion 2012 Menswear Committee, Dylan Jones.
A tremendous initiative, that will no doubt draw even more attention towards the UK’s capital this year. So whether you’re there for the Olympics, Ascot or Wimbledon, you now have a terrific menswear runway event to attend when you’re in London. It certainly is the place to be this year.
London Collections: Men; as the event will be called, will run from June 15 to 17 – placing it right at the heart of London’s Olympics. The showcase – which will include the traditional shows and presentations – will also include some cultural events as part of London’s Fashion 2012 programme to tie in with the Games.
London Collections: Men will not only be a showcase for brands and designers but will form a cross cultural programme creating a festival for Menswear in what will be a truly exciting year for the UK.
The first London Collections: Men schedule brings together an exciting array of London’s brightest menswear stars, British heritage brands and international names to show across the three day celebration of men’s fashion.
Iconic British brands Dunhill, Hackett, Margaret Howell and Pringle of Scotland will host presentations alongside a selection of heritage brands and tailors from London’s esteemed Savile Row. E.Tautz, Hardy Amies and Richard James will be showing their ready-to-wear collections, while presentations will be taking place on Savile Row on Friday 15th June.
